(Below has spoilers that Disney spoiled already)

Time to discuss a Disney Sitcom Premiere, and boy is this one interesting. After the endings of Girl Meets World and Liv and Maddie, Disney's in a rut and really needs a hit. So they'll be experimenting for a while. This show is another single camera one and it's from the creator of Lizzie McGuire. And it's another show that will attempt to be more mature, with could go either way.

They put the first 2 episodes on the app and already it got decent buzz, especially for a twist that I wish wasn't spoiled via this and the freaking promos. I'll say it too but eh, knowing it didn't change my opinion too much, sort of.

Those 2 eps are what just aired and so far...i actually like it, or at least it has potential. l It starts out typically enough, with a lead that has 2 silly best friends, and a love interest and deals with an alpha bitch. Then one day her sister shows up who has not been with her too much but is pretty cool.

But then comes the spoiler part, which is revealed roughly halfway through. It turns out Bex, the sister...is actually her mother, with Mom being the grandmother. That's right, she had a teen pregnancy.

Yep. Episode 1 and they're pulling out the big guns. I rather like this. It's a mature theme put right into the plot and there's various ways they can go from there. I'll say my issues I have right now: “Mom” is too much of a bitch the whole time, as we first meet her when Bex pops up too, so we only see her as a bitch. She lightens up near the end but a better balance was needed. Some parts do get typical, and the ending of ep 2 is really odd, it's a cliffhanger but a dumb one with a joke that goes on too long.

Anything else that's a problem is stuff that's up in the air, we'll see how things go. The set up is good. They use the single format for drama more than comedy, so they don't do quite as many weird tricks like with every other one they do. So the drama mostly works, especially when it comes to that twist.

The acting already seems rather decent, even from the young lead, at least for what we have her. The humor is fine, although a show like this is always odd with the comedy/drama mix. Even GMW had that issue, and hopefully it'll get better after the like 5 minute staring contest in episode 2.

Characters themselves seems good, although I hope the friends and love interests get fleshed out as they are typical compared to the family. I like the Dad,he really is just taking all this in stride. Btw, there are some mature jokes and references to such beloved kids things as Buffy and Nickleback. Yeah, some may respond well to them or not, they were fine.

There's a lot of potential for this to become the next beloved Disney Sitcom, with some mature elements and good drama. It has a bit of climb but the issues can be fixed going forward. So far I am liking this and I really hope it fills in the void of GMW and LAM. I feel like this going show will be carrying them for awhile. Until that That's so Raven version of GMW comes out, which is a thing.

I'm just hoping for a Corey in the house callback.

So yeah, I like what we have and I'm hoping it gets better and we have a new good show. Hopefully, Disney really needs it. I'll keep you posted.

(In Misc News, the following eps of Tangled so far are good, haven't seen tonight's though. More info in a Status some other time).

I never thought I would see the day Disney Channel acknowledges teen pregnancy! I applaud them! Teen pregnancy is a part of life and the kids watching Disney Channel will encounter it someday in some shape or form. I'll have to check this show out myself.
